Yael Karavan

International award winning performer, movement artist and director, my work is often described as visual poetry. Drawing on elements of Butoh, dance, mime, clown, physical and visual theatre I explores themes of Memory, Metamorphosis, the invisible and the notion of repetitive cycles, as well as current urgent socio-political issues such as climate change, immigration, diversity and inequality. Intertwining dreamlike atmospheres with a humorous edge, constantly balancing on the fine line between the tragic and the comic, the intimate and the collective with elements of audience participation. My work is presented in theatres, galleries or museums, often in site specific context.

PhD in Philosophy. His work moves between apparently unrelated fields such as philosophy, poetry, political activism and music, challenging the limits between these disciplines and the borders that isolate reflection and action.
